The Island of Fire Festival on Lemnos Island

The Island of Fire Festival on Lemnos Island in Moudros Village. The festival took place on Havouli Beach in Greece from July 13th to July 16th in the year 2007. It was an amazing compilation of some well-known artists from all over Europe. The venue was conveniently equipped with a bar, free camping spots, bathroom facilities, medical coverage, traditional food, and fresh fruits and juices. There was even a market place where you could go and get everything you need.
The first performance was from Kenji Williams and Aba Stracture. They are known as the next level of mixing art into performances. The mixture of audio and visual art was simply amazing. The second performance was by Youth in Dub, and Vertical Smile. They performed a trance set list, and they did a really great job. The third band was Antix with their older style with a newer production. The third performance was by a new and up beat band called Uni. They performed with the fresh beats of Sine 6. Both were awesome performances of tribal hits. One cannot just say that these bands are techno, it does not do them justice. Ase Dana and Huva Network both did a great job with their psychedelic trance sets. The same goes for Vibrasphere who have a new album release. it was nice to hear them live.
For a more ambient contrast Solar Fields performed their greatest hits. Their music sends the listener to heaven and back. In comparison to Lieforms and Sync 24 who are also more mellow and dramatic performers.
Of course, my favorite was Petit Ange who did the theme song to the site for the festival. Everyone in Europe knows this song so it is obvious that they did a great job. Their rhythm was not far from perfect.
There is no way that I can cover every band so I am sorry for any that I may have missed. I tried to get something in for everyone, but it was impossible to see and hear them all. You can see most of the performances on YouTube. I do not know if they have another one planned for this summer, but I am hoping that they are. They should try and do this event yearly, but maybe funding is the issue. The greatest thing about it is that these bands get to create a name for themselves.
